154 Market Street
Portsmouth, NH

One of America's finest Georgian mansions, the house is notable for its breathtaking Great Hall, superb woodwork, and fine antique furnishings. William Whipple, one of New Hampshire's signers of the Declaration of Independence, lived here throughout the Revolution. The horse chestnut tree Whipple planted in 1776 still stands and is the Millennium Landmark Tree for New Hampshire.
